Deterioration of agricultural producers' optimism, according to a survey

A survey of regional agricultural experimentation consortia (CREA) revealed a slight decrease in expectations of agricultural producers regarding how the country and its companies will be revealed.

43% of producers consulted said the country's situation would be better in one year. In March 2018, when the same question was asked, 46% of agricultural entrepreneurs said that the situation in the country was going to be better.

Last month's survey of 1233 producers joining CREA across the country found that when entrepreneurs are asked whether the situation of their farms will be better in a year, 45% respond positively. . However, the decline from the perception they had a year ago is similar: three percentage points.

These figures also indicate a clear decrease compared to 2017, when the producers' optimism regarding the situation in the country reflected rates close to 60%.

Regarding investment intentions, 68% responded that they "had made or intended to make investments during this year". 30% said they intend to change lorries, 22% said they need to renew sleeves and livestock pens (although 25% said so a year ago); "14% for tractors (18% in 2018), 11% for seeders (8%), 6% for sprayers (8%) and 3% for harvesters (the same percentage as a year ago)" according to the survey.

Regarding the financial situation in relation to the 2019/2020 crop year, producers indicated that 36% of the implementation costs will be financed. This proportion is lower than last year, when they said that 43% of the costs would be funded. This is due to the severe drought of 2018. However, this situation is similar to those of 2017 (35%) and 2016 (38%).

By disaggregating funding intentions by region, 73 percent of producers in the northern Santa Fe area – affected by the floods last year – said they will finance 40 percent of their costs.

The report points out that 91% of agricultural entrepreneurs finance "something" from the cost of implementation and 54%, more than 31%.
