Diario Extra – Children under 13 years old will not be able to use WhatsApp

Many teens have had bad news: the WhatsApp app can only be used by people over 13 years old.

In the next update of the world's most popular instant messaging application, which will be version 2.19.222, changes would be made. The specialized portal, WABetaInfo, published that in Europe, children under 16 would not be able to use it, while in other countries of the world, the user had to be at least 13 years old to use the app.

In the beta version of Android, the novelty has already begun to apply. What we do not know so far is how they will make the change effective and it's supposed to be in the next few weeks when WhatsApp starts closing the accounts of users who do not meet the age requirements.

In fact, under the conditions of use and confidentiality (those that no one reads), it is established that if the user "lives in a country of the European region, he must be at least 16 years old to use our services ".

The restriction was already shared in 2012, where it was specified that only people over 16 years old could use the application. Although the restriction was reduced to 13 years in 2016, the last update of the security conditions of last year set the minimum age to 16 years.
