Jacqui Saburido, the disfigured woman who became a symbol of the risk of drunk driving after suffering horrible burns in an accident in 1999, died last Tuesday

Jacqui was 20 years old in 1999 and was leaving home after a birthday party with four friends in Texas. His vehicle was hit by a drunk driver who got lost and entered his lane, according to the Ministry of Transportation. Texas, who introduced Saburido in his "Faces of Drunk Driving" campaign.

Saburino, 20, needed more than 100 surgeries to treat facial and hand burns.

After this tragic event, Saburido became an energetic advocate of the campaign against drunk driving or designated driver, as it is called in Mexico.

He made numerous appearances in schools and took advantage of his appearance to talk about the dangers of driving under the influence. He also appeared on Oprah's show twice.
