Joel Le Scouarnec he was a respected physician and father of three children. In France, his figure has always been linked to a person of values and worthy of being imitated. Until a glaring truth was discovered: he was a pedophile demon who abused over 300 minors.

“I do not ask for forgiveness or compassion, only the right to become a better man“were his last words before hearing the sentence, which has ten days to appeal. For his part, his lawyer Thibaut Kurzawa stressed that Le Scouarnec explained that he had many regrets. “Without necessarily asking for an apology. He knows that what he has done is unforgivable,” he said.
The case was opened in April 2017, when a six-year-old girl who lived next to the Scouarnec house told her mother that the surgeon had shown him “the tail” through the fence that separates their houses. This is how the first complaint was filed.
Astonishment and indignation would come a few days later, when the doctor’s house was attacked by federal forces. Inside, researchers found more than 300,000 images of pornography, including minors, and a file in which the doctor detail the names and abuse of girls and boys from 1989 to 2017. However, Le Scouarnec, 70, claimed that his diary included fantastic facts.
Then came a cataract of complaints … Last October, the surgeon was accused of sexual abuse against 312 persons, between 1986 and 2014. Most were children of both sexes, with a average age of 11 years.
According to their own newspapers, many of these cases committed in medical situations, when the victims were sleeping or were anesthetized.
This is not the first sentence that Le Scouarnec has faced, in 2005 he was sentenced to four months of suspended prison sentence for possession of images of pedophilia.
