Dramatic: he clung for 30 kilometers to the truck that hit and killed his wife

The images are already impressive. But the backstory is even more dramatic. Arrived in Brazil, in the state of Santa Catarina, where trucker run over couple on motorbike by the BR-101 road: left the woman in very serious condition. The 47-year-old was left lying on the asphalt with a head injury and died hours later at Marieta Konder Hospital in Itajaí last Saturday afternoon.

The truck, which continued to push other vehicles on the road, stopped in Morro do Boi, in the municipality of Balneario Camboriú. The 36-year-old driver has been charged with attempted murder. As reported by the media G1, has shown signs of drug use.

“The condition he was in was that of a drug addict. When he arrived at the DP (police station) I was trying to bite people. He was extremely aggressive, ”said Uiliam Soares da Silva, the police chief who arrested him. A dose of cocaine was seized inside the vehicle.

According to the officer, the man admitted to using drugs and also not getting enough sleep. However, during the investigation the truck driver remained silent.

For his part, the 49-year-old motorcyclist, named Anderson Antônio Pereira, suffered minor injuries and was transferred to the Ruth Cardoso municipal hospital, in Balneario Camboriú, where he was already released.

The 36-year-old truck driver was charged with attempted murder, aggravated by the use of a remedy which made the victim’s defense impossible; while driving a motor vehicle under the influence of psychoactive substances; for theft from the scene of a traffic accident caused and for the possession of drugs for personal use.

According to a cousin of the victims, Anderson Antônio Pereira and Sandra Aparecida Pereira were returning from a motorcycle ride in Campo Alegre, north of Santa Catarina, when they were hit by the truck. The relative said they were returning from a ride and were “enjoying a dream” with their motorbike purchased just two months ago.
