A young man who was under the influence of nitrogen oxide, better known as "gas of laughter," climbed onto the sidewalk with his car and crushed a group of people, two of whom died. The tragic event occurred last Saturday on Nevsky Avenue, the main street of the Russian city of St. Petersburg.
The accused, identified as Murad KasýmovAged 30, originally from Azerbaijan, who admitted to inhaling the substance with the help of balloons in a nightclub, caused the fatal crash aboard a BMW X6 who was driving at full speed.
In addition, the local press reported that Kasýmov had committed numerous road traffic offenses and that in November his driving license was revoked. The man opened criminal proceedings against him for violating the drunk driving code and the death of two people.
As a result of the incident, two people died, a 39-year-old Russian woman and a 40-year-old American, while three other victims were hospitalized for injuries of different kinds.
