Russia recorded a daily death certificate due to the coronavirus in the last 24 hours, due to delta variant advance, added to the slowness of vaccination and the lack of containment measures.

According to the daily report proposed by the government crisis center, a total of 828 people have died in the last 24 hours in the country. So far, the highest number was 820, reached on September 23 and August 26, 2021.

Russia is, in absolute terms, the country in Europe hardest hit by the pandemic with more than 202,273 deaths, according to government figures.

Russian statistical agency Rosstat, which uses a broader definition of deaths caused by COVID, reported more than 350,000 deaths from the pandemic at the end of July 2021.

The impact of the delta

Since June, Russia has been plagued by the contagious variant of the delta and fails to contain its progress. The number of new cases this Friday rose to 21,379.

The epidemic has reached the Kremlin, where President Vladimir Putin is isolated since the beginning of last week for the detection of dozens of cases in their environment.

Despite the production of several local drugs, vaccination is progressing very slowly and, according to a count from the Gogov website, only 28.4% of the Russian population have the full schedule.

In addition, the public authorities avoid taking restrictive health measures to preserve the economy, which has stagnated for years.

The jugular, always compulsory, little used in public places and guidelines for social distancing are rarely followed.

The city of Moscow, the epicenter of the pandemic in Russia, this week recognized a second wave of the delta variant after that experienced at the beginning of the summer, with a 24% increase in infections and 15% in hospitalizations in one week.
