Elections in Ecuador: Lasso now overtakes Pérez …

In the last update of Lasso obtains 19.63% of the vote (a total of 1,770,306 votes), a minimum advantage of 0.01 point with Pérez, who recorded 1,769,282 votes. According to the CNE, 99.81 percent of voter registers have been reviewed so far, leaving 76 to count and 1,100 records with incidents to review.

In Sunday’s elections, Correista Andrés Arauz won, with 32.45% of the vote so far. The auction between Lasso and Pérez has opened a period of political uncertainty in the country with calls for the mobilization of the indigenous movement, which claims an alleged fraud.

“We will not allow electoral fraud, we continue in the permanent vigil demanding from the CNE transparency, honesty and respect for the right to vote. We will defend democracy!”, Yaku Pérez tweeted after his arrival Wednesday morning at the electoral delegation of Guayaquil to verify in person the review of the observed minutes. He later called “for calm, for peace, to wait patiently for the results, but be vigilant on each of the votes you bet on this project“.
