Elisa Carrió warns government will seek to ‘trap’ governors, presses Court

Elisa Carrió posted a loud warning this Sunday on social networks about the next movements of the national government, in the middle of the second wave of the coronavirus. The reference of the Civic Coalition assured that Alberto Fernández is preparing a “trap” for governors and that there is pressure on the Supreme Court, which must define the protection of the City against suspension of the courts.

He thus appointed Ricardo Lorenzetti, member of the highest court and historically preferred target of one of the founders of Juntos por el Cambio, pending the decision of this body on the amparo presented by Horacio Rodríguez Larreta.

Carrió spoke out on social media days after Alberto Fernández toughened the restrictions in AMBA ahead of the rise in Covid cases, with measures that sparked rejection from provincial and municipal authorities.

Rodríguez Larreta – who subsequently held a meeting with the president – presented an amparo to the Supreme Court of Justice to declare the unconstitutionality suspension of face-to-face lessons between Monday and Friday 30.

For its part, the Buenos Aires prosecutor’s office spoke in favor of the request of the NGO Open the Schools and the Center for Public Policy Studies, which had requested the invalidity of the DNU signed by the President and the entire National Cabinet.

Opposition of mayors and governors
