Etna volcano erupted again

Etna, the largest active volcano in Europe located on the east coast of Sicily, woke up today at dawn emitting explosions and lava from one of the craters located in the desert zone of its summit, as reported by the National Institute. Italian Geophysics and Vulcanology (INGV).

The activity is intermittent and lava flows along the southeast slope, called Valle del Bove, over a distance of 1.5 km from its emission point, said INGV in a statement.

The phenomenon, "concentrated" in the high and desert area of ​​the Sicilian volcano, is accompanied by a strong ash emission that led to the closure of the airs of Catania and Comiso (Ragusa) which prevent both landings and landings in both scales, said Ansa agency.

Etna, the 3,300 meter supervolcan of Italy, has frequent eruptions, known for at least 2,700 years.

Its last major eruption was in the winter of 2008-2009.
