European countries suspend use of AstraZeneca vaccine – economic, financial and business news

Danish health authorities have decided to temporarily suspend the application of the vaccine University of Oxford-AstraZeneca a series of complications with blood clots is studied in inoculated patients. After the announcement, Norway and Iceland joined the measure, defined as preventive.

Previously, Austria had stopped using a batch of AstraZeneca vaccine (the same as Denmark applied) following the death of a woman by a picture of bleeding disorders and pulmonary embolism. Italy, Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia and Luxembourg have also decided to no longer apply the vaccines from this batch, which has been distributed in 17 countries.

For its part, The European Medicines Agency (EMA) has claimed that the benefits of the vaccine outweighed its risks and recommended that it continue to be administered. Previously, the European regulator had assured that to date, there was no evidence linking AstraZeneca to the two Austrian cases.
