European lawmakers call to "suspend contacts" with Maduro

Conservative European legislators to whom entry to Venezuela was denied this weekend, they urged Monday the main diplomat of the European Union to suspend his contacts with the government of Nicolás Maduro.

The five visitors were invited by the National Assembly, led by the opposition leader, Juan Guaidó, which the European Parliament and the majority of EU members recognize as acting President of Venezuela.

Gonzalez Pons told reporters Monday in Madrid after his return from Caracas that the European Commissioner for Foreign Affairs, Federica Mogherini, should cancel the international contact group that is trying to hold talks in this country of South America.
