Yañez chaired the ALMA Alliance for a period of one year, from September 2020, after receiving coordination from his counterpart in Paraguay, Silvana abdo, who chaired it since its creation in 2019.

During the administration of Yañez, actions and activities were carried out with different international organizations, where issues of importance for the region were addressed: STEM education (proposed by the PD of Panama); water, sanitation and hygiene in health facilities. Urgent action (Proposed by Paraguay); and Regional Dialogue on “Gender and Food Systems” with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO).
Also, on the occasion of the official tour in Europe, Yañez held meetings with members of FAO, where he learned about the regional campaign “Rural women, women of rights” and participated in person in the meeting. organized by Scholas Ocurrentes with His Holiness, Pope Francis.
He also participated in a debate with Unicef on the Covid-19 crisis and the impacts on violence against young children in the region; and a conference on “Hand Hygiene for All” with the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO).
After presenting the management report to Alliance members, Yañez pointed out: “We women weave many heroic moments in history. Today our America needs us more united than ever, as women continue to play an important role in the processes of change.”
