A dog has moved residents of the city of Montemorelos (Mexico), not wanting to separate from the body of its owner, hit by a train, reports the newspaper The Chronicle.

Authorities were alerted Thursday by a man lying near railroad tracks in the district of La Estación. They went to the scene accompanied by paramedics from the Red Cross. When they arrived, they found the body lifeless.

According to police reports, the victim, identified as Víctor Reyna Vásquez, 57, was attacked by a train while he was walking under the influence of alcohol near the railroad tracks.

Beyond the tragic event, the presence of a dog who refused to part with his master drew attention. Police and rescuers took hours to lift the body, as they had to fight with the dog who had even tried to bite one of the troops.
