Federal police bankrupt: it owes nearly 2,500 million pesos

The federal police in a context of likely disappearance in a year and a half, is bankrupt.

In a report published by the portal Political animal specifies that the total debt of the security company, until last February, was 2,460 million 776,000 pesos, this amount relates to the payment of goods and services in 14 posts.

One of them, in which they owe more, concerns transfer services and travel expenses that are not covered by an amount of 1 308 million pesos. On several occasions, this problem had already been highlighted by the complaint of hoteliers who had not been paid as agreed. The federal police sometimes improvised camps for their troops carrying out security tasks in different states.

The second largest debt is nearly 533 million pesos for unhedged basic services, including water and electricity payments. Then comes a debt of 234 million 283,000 pesos in clothing, blankets and protective clothing; and another $ 92 million 635,000 pesos for payments to persons providing various professional and technical services.

In the document that the portal obtained through a request for transparency, it indicates that the federal police does not have sufficient resources to cover the payment of debts. The only option is therefore to request an extension of the budget granted.

"The strategy is to absorb the resources of the Ministry of Finance and Public Credit, as an extension of the budget of the current year, in order to cover these commitments", says the document.

For 2019, Congress authorized a budget for the said security company 26. 233 million pesos, which represents a reduction of just over 1,000 million pesos compared to last year.
