Five indigenous people sexually assaulted mother and daughter after intimidating them with arrows

On March 28, in the village of La Hormiga, in the municipality of Tame, Arauca, there was an act of sexual violence after it was learned that, apparently, five indigenous men had abused her and her daughter. , under the age of seven. This was announced by the municipal mayor of the municipality in a press release.

From the said entity, headed by the mayor Aníbal Mendoza Bohórquez, they rejected this act which they qualified as “criminal, abusive and blameworthy in all respects”, and they also declared that they would pursue, capture and prosecute the alleged responsible. “We urge the community at large to report these events atrocious acts that denigrate the existence of humanity by directly and gravely attacking the sexual, physical and psychological integrity of this vulnerable population subject to rights, ”the document reads.

The events were said to have unfolded in an intimidating manner when the five men arrived at the scene with arrows and then forced the woman and her daughter to walk to a rural area near their home and the crime was committed there. Representative Juan Carlos Villate said that It was not an easy task to capture people as there are four indigenous communities in the area. for which aid was requested from the native guard.

On March 10, Ana María Orbegoso, a 23-year-old student in social communication and journalism, uploaded a video to her Instagram account in which she denounced a man, identified as Eduardo Díaz, for having sexually abused her, in January 2019..

According to Ana’s story, everything happened between the night and the early morning of January 20 and 21, 2019. Ana went with a friend from her university to celebrate the birthday of another young woman, whom she did not know, but who was part of her comrade’s group of friends.

The night passed calmly, Ana said, however, that she received the proposal to continue the party in the apartment of one of the people who were with them. They introduced Eduardo, intending to meet. According to her companions, Ana might like Eduardo because she “liked alternative boys,” the young woman said in her video complaint.

Ana and Eduardo started interacting that night, they talked for a long time and kissed, however, Ana made it clear that she did not intend for a consensual sexual interaction to occur between the two. during that night.

Ana, tired of the party, asked the young man who lived in the apartment if she could rest for a while in one of the rooms of the house, located in Cedritos, then go home. The young man said yes and pointed to the door of one of the rooms in the house: Ana decided to enter to rest for a while.

There, Eduardo stopped, from what he told him. Although Ana repeatedly told Eduardo that she did not want anything to happen, the alleged perpetrator, the young woman said, grabbed her by the arms, against the bed, and assaulted her. sexually. The complaint, according to Ana, did not advance to the prosecutor’s office as they have not contacted her since she filed a lawsuit.
