A serious fire was declared Thursday in a thermal plant near Moscow, with flames up to 50 meters high, visible on the images transmitted by Russian television. The fire was declared in the high pressure preheater and extended over an area of ​​800 square meters. Firefighters located the source of the fire and checked it, informed the press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations.

Several firefighters were sent to fight the fire in the city of Chelobitievo, less than two kilometers from Moscow, announced on Twitter the mayor of the capital, Sergei Sobiánin.

The thermal power station, operating on natural gas, supplies electricity and heating to the northern and northeastern parts of the Russian capital. It is the most modern power plant that powers Moscow, built from 1987 to the 2000s.
