Hundreds of migrants try to enter Melilla

Hundreds of migrants tried to enter the Spanish city of Melilla, in North Africa, this morning from Morocco, and about thirty of them succeeded, despite the army deploying to the border fence to reinforce monitoring and control., official sources informed the news agency Efe.

Entry attempts, six in total, happened all night, while Police and civil guard agents try to control this border area with Moroccan territory.

So far, it is not known where the thirty illegal immigrants who managed to enter the city, all adult Moroccan men, although sources confirmed that none were injured.

This is the first time that Melilla has suffered such an irregular entry of people from Morocco in jumps towards the border fence which, until now, was a route used almost exclusively by sub-Saharan immigrants.

Tranquility on the border of Ceuta

Meanwhile, the Tarajal border that separates the Spanish city of Ceuta, also in North Africa, from Morocco, stay calm this Friday, after the arrival of 8000 immigrants this weekMany of them, 6,000 according to the latest official information, have returned to their countries.

The Spanish and Moroccan governments have reached an agreement to allow the return of these groups of people with a maximum of 40 people every two hours.

Authorities are now focused on caring for more than 800 unaccompanied minors who remain sheltered in different parts of Ceuta.

On Thursday, members of the Civil Guard rescued the corpse of a migrant floating in the waters of Ceuta beach in Tarajal.

It is second corpse recovered this week, after drowning last Monday a Moroccan when he tried to swim in this North African city.
