Ford is preparing the new EcoSport: when will it be ready and with which the Chinese brand will develop it

Ford is already thinking of the new generation of EcoSport, the urban SUV that rivals Renault Duster and Captur, Chevrolet Tracker, Honda HR-V and Nissan Kicks, among other models. Without official information, important details about the next renovation were known.

According to the Brazilian magazine Autos Segredos, the future Ford EcoSport will be developed by the oval brand in collaboration with Changan, one of the largest car manufacturers in China already allied with Peugeot for the manufacture of a medium-sized pickup truck. This will happen in this country, in India and Brazil, from where it will arrive in Argentina.

The same support ensures that the next generation of the compact SUV will enter the badembly line of Camacari, in the state of Bahia, only in the first quarter of 2021. This indicates that Argentina is expected to arrive in the first half of this year.

Even if the platform will be the same, the future model will have larger dimensions and a structural modernization that will include "unpublished security resources, in addition to ultra-high strength steels, "says Autos Segredos.

Ford has not ruled on this, but everything seems to indicate that the 2.0-liter engine and 170 hp will come out of production and take greater importance of the 1.5 liter Dragon naphtero, with naturally aspirated and turbocharged versions.

This will not be the first agreement between the oval mark and a mark of Chinese origin. It was already announced collaboration in the development of the territory, an SUV that Ford will launch to be sold in Argentina in 2020. It will arrive imported from the Asian country as a result of joint work with JMC.
