France: three people linked to the terrorist attack against a police station in the Paris suburbs arrested

French police arrested three people on Friday after an employee of this force was stabbed to death at his workplace, southwest of Paris, by a suspected Islamist extremist.

The man, originally from Tunisia and identified as Jamel G., 36, was later beaten down by the security forces.

A forensic source said that the three detainees were part of the suspect’s “entourage”.

President Emmanuel Macron said that France will never give in to “Islamist terrorism” after the attack on a police station in Rambouillet, a quiet suburban town, about 60 kilometers from Paris, which relived the trauma of a series of deadly bombings last year.

French national counterterrorism prosecutors said investigation for terrorism, which also involved the national intelligence service of the DGSI, about the murder of a person exercising public authority.

A source close to the investigation told the AFP that the attacker shouted “Allah Akbar” (Allah is great) during the attack.

The Chief Counterterrorism Prosecutor Jean-François Ricard, who spoke in front of the station with Prime Minister Jean Castex, confirmed that “the remarks made by the attacker” indicated terrorist motivation.

According to the first elements of the investigation, the 49-year-old administrative officer was stabbed twice in the throat at the entrance to the police station as she returned from her lunch break, around 2:20 p.m. (12:20 a.m. GMT).

The victim, A mother of two, she first suffered from cardiac arrest and died shortly after, despite the intervention of rescuers.

Her attacker, a Tunisian national, attacked her shouting “Alá Akbar” (Allah is great), according to a source close to the investigation. The man was killed shortly after by another police officer, a police source said.

Prosecutors have in charge of the event by “the development of the facts, which includes elements of localization. Also because of his execution, the type of crime, the type of victim and the statements made by the perpetrator at the time of the facts, ”said the prosecutor.
