France to end Kabul airport evacuations on Friday

France to end evacuations from Kabul tomorrow Friday evening due to announced withdrawal of US troops who control the airport until August 31.

The French Prime Minister, Jean Castex, said this Thursday, in a radio interview RTL, What these evacuation operations will continue “until tomorrow evening” because then the French soldiers who deal with the aircraft will have to leave Kabul airport.

He recalled that in addition to the repatriation of the French who were in Afghanistan, these flights which stop at their Abu Dhabi air base before heading to Paris, have allowed withdraw some 2,500 Afghans from Kabul.

Castex noted that once these air rotations are completed, there will be a new phase with the Afghans who will continue to flee their country.

Asked about the controversy in France around a group of five Afghans hosted in France who were under the tutelage of the secret services because of the links of one of them with the Taliban, the Prime Minister tried to highlight the political and electoral reasons for the criticism your government has received.

One of the five men was arrested on Monday because he had left the area assigned to him as part of the surveillance measures. of which he was the object and this Wednesday he was sentenced to ten months in prison.

The executive justified the reception of these men, even if one of them was in touch with the Taliban, because assisted in the evacuation of refugees at the French Embassy in Kabul.

The far right and part of the right demanded their expulsion. The Castex stressed that it is not possible today to expel a country like Afghanistan where there is no constituted state and also that the man who was first arrested and then sentenced is subject to the action of French justice.
