According to the IMF's board of directors, "the period for nominations for the post of new Director General has been closed on Friday, 6 September".

"Candidate Kristalina Georgieva, currently World Bank Executive Director and Bulgarian citizen, has confirmed her willingness to be considered a candidate"revealed body.

As a result, "the Council will now proceed in accordance with the process described in the decision of 26 July, including the holding of meetings between the candidate and the administrators," they said.
