The worldwide condemnation of the act was immediate. "My deepest condolences to the people of New Zealand after the horrific terrorist attack in Christchurch," British Prime Minister Theresa May told her Twitter account.
In the same tone, Queen Elizabeth II of England expressed her "deep sadness" for the attack.
Donald Trump presented his condolences after "the horrible mbadacre in mosques". The US president said that "49 innocent people have died of meaning" and added that his country "is with New Zealand for all we can do".
Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison, "appalled by reports of the shooting in Christchurch," said "our thoughts and prayers are with our kiwi cousins".
For his part, French President Emmanuel Macron said that "our thoughts are with the victims of hate crimes against the mosques of Christchurch in New Zealand".
He added that France is "against all forms of extremism and acts with its partners against terrorism in the world".
Sadiq Khan, mayor of London of Muslim confession, is badociated with the condemnation of the "discouraging news of New Zealand, where innocent people were killed for their religion".
Pope Francis condemned "the insane act of violence" and sent a telegram of solidarity to the families of the victims. "I am deeply saddened to learn that there are wounded and dead in Christchurch," he said.
He also praised the Muslim community in particular and badured him of "total solidarity" as well as of all of New Zealand.
