The opposition leader said that a peaceful transition can be achieved after the departure of the president Nicolás Maduro and hold free elections in the future, in a Spanish interview with CNN.

"We have a very clear program, which is already recognized by the world: cessation of the usurpation, transitional government and free elections"said Guaidó.

In this regard, he stated that he was willing to speak to "Any official (…) wishing to collaborate on this path of stabilization of the country", although he specified that "we will not lend ourselves to a false dialogue which gives us oxygen to a regime that kills, torture young people, who imprisons and will not solve the problems of the people of Venezuela ".

Guaidó, who leads the opposition movement against Maduro with the support of the United States and other nations, spoke after Washington imposed stiff sanctions Monday at the state oil company PDVSA, increasing pressure on the Venezuelan government.

In the interview, Guaidó indicated that he would offer amnesty to the Venezuelan army and that he would extend it to Maduro.
