British MPs have asked to allow protests during pandemic

More than 60 British MPs signed a letter to Fatherland Minister Priti Patel, calling for “expressly exempts the holding of events from the restrictions»Imposed by the pandemic.

The letter, released this Saturday by the prolific organizations Liberty and Big Brother Watch, asks that the legislation is clarified to ensure that citizens can in any case demonstrate, always in compliance with security rules to prevent the spread of the virus.

England is currently subject to the maximum level of containment, in which you can only leave the house for specified essential reasons, which does not include the demonstration – which is allowed under less confined conditions – resulting in inconsistencies in the police response.

“There is no legal certainty neither for the police as to their duties, nor for the demonstrators as to their rights. This is not acceptable and possibly illegal, ”reads the letter coordinated by Liberty and Big Brother Watch.
