the Spanish government reported this Wednesday more than 15,000 infections and 351 deaths from the coronavirus in the last 24 hours, and if the sanitary pressure continues to be at worrying figures, transmission of the virus seems to have started to decline.

The Ministry of Health reported on Wednesday that 15,318 new Covid-19 infections were recorded the day before, then the total number of cases since the start of the pandemic in Spain stands at 1,525,341.

Similarly, the cumulative incidence of the virus, measured over a reference period of 14 days, fell again on Wednesday at 452 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, which is a slight improvement from 465 reported Tuesday.

The areas most affected by the pandemic continue to be Aragon, the Basque Country, Rioja and Castilla y León, although all experienced a significant reduction in transmission, below 800 infections, whereas two weeks ago, they exceeded 1000.

However, Spain is now suffering from the effects of accumulated infections in recent weeks, which is reflected in the figure of 435 dead on Tuesday, the maximum reached in the second wave of the pandemic.

And the pressure on healthcare continues to be at worrying numbers, although a slight improvement has also started to be seen in this section.

Spain has been on high alert since October 25 which allows each of the regions to apply measures, and despite the fact that Central government rules out national lockdown, most regions limit a large part of their economic activity.
