87-year-old man put the car of his life up for sale to pay off debts with the money from the operation that they had reached unpayable numbers with their monthly retirement teacher’s salary. When his elders found out, They bought it, restored it and gave it back, in a truly moving act.

The story, which was published by the Brazilian channel RPC, goes that the teacher is a man named Marcelo Siqueira and who has had this car since 1972, when he bought it as a zero kilometer. It is a Volkswagen Beetle, a legendary model that is nicknamed Fusca on the other side of the border.

Siqueira taught history and geography for over twenty-five years at the Doña Carola school in Curitiba. By virtue of his profession and the particularity of the car he drove (it is not easy to find this type of vehicle still in circulation), he is a famous man in his city, as well as much loved.

The students bought the beetle from their teacher and returned it to them.

“It was essential in this part of our children’s lives to think about the future”one of his former students, Claudio Martins, who was in charge of the collection, told RCP. When Martins saw his former teacher’s car sale notice, he spoke to his classmates and they got organized to start fundraising. The goal: to buy Siqueira’s car so that he can pay his debts and then restore it to put it back in good condition.

Arrived at the number necessary to carry out the operation, they warned the aforementioned television channel and surprised him with the news on camera, with the complicity of his son. Marcelo was very moved and admitted: “I was very excited”.

Her son arrived with the cameras on the pretext that he would be interviewed to talk about the car and say goodbye to her after almost half a century together, which would have been a very painful story to tell. They were going to take one last ride before selling it, since its buyer (in fact, his students) would arrive a few minutes later.

At one point, his former students appeared surprised and broke the news to him. They told him to keep the keys, that they would be responsible for paying him the value of the car and having it repaired so that he could continue to enjoy it for many years to come.
