He raped and killed his 3 year old stepdaughter, he was sentenced within minutes and shot dead

A man was shot in Jubaland state in southern Somalia for raping her 3-year-old daughter-in-law, who died of her injuries.

The court hearing located in the city of Dhobley and found guilty of Hussein Adan Ali, 28, was broadcast on the local TV channel, while the national posted Ali’s photo on Twitter.

Sentenced by a tribunal of elders

The elders of a traditional clan and court officials, prior to his conviction authorized by current Islamic law, reviewed the evidence.

According to the latter, Ali was chewing qat leaves (a plant with stimulating action) when he raped the young girl. The leaves can also produce feelings of elation, suppress appetite, and cause periods of sleeplessness, as well as a feeling of calm if chewed for a few hours.

Dressed in traditional clothes, the elders made their decision: death sentence. The court said the sentence was permitted under Islamic law.

It is not known when the incident occurred, but judges said the victim died on Wednesday.

Transmission did not show nor to lawyers if they were present at the hearing or if the defendant had the possibility of appealing.
