"Lion", the film starring Dev Patel, which has become in Argentina the title "A way home", is based on a real record that looks incredible: a five-year-old boy travels thousands of kilometers on board a train from his parents. Twenty-five years later, the Internet helps him find his family.
A few days ago, the story was repeated in real life. Yulia Gorina traveled in 1999 on a train with her father. They left Minsk, the capital of Belarus, and when they arrived in Asipovichy, a hundred kilometers away, the man woke up and did not find his four-year-old daughter. He searched for her with his wife and went to the police as well, but he never managed to find her. But they never lost hope and their mother, Lyudmila, was convinced that Yulia was still alive.
In 2017, they gave an interview to an information portal, where they again expressed their hope of finding their daughter. They even talked about the possibility that the little girl was kidnapped, but the story had been different.
Yulia does not know how long exactly she has been between the day she was lost and the date she was found. The most surprising thing is that the police found her at the Ryazan train station, more than 800 km from Asipovichy. They asked for his parents' names, but he did not know his family name or address, not even the city where he lived.
Yulia was adopted by a couple and lived for twenty years without news of their biological parents, although they told her how little they knew about their story. Yulia told her boyfriend that she had simply gone to an Internet search engine and had written: "4 year old girl, missing." One of the first results is the 2017 interview of Viktor and Lyudmila Moissenko, still convinced that their daughter, Yulia, was alive somewhere.
Finally, Yulia's parents found their daughter. DNA tests finally confirmed the relationship.
"My father begged me to forgive him and, of course, I forgave him," said Yulia, who now has her own daughter.
