The doctors at Fooyin University Hospital, in southern Taiwan, could not believe what they had discovered by checking the eyes of a 20-year-old woman.
The young woman entered the ophthalmology department because of eye discomfort. By examining it, four living bees were discovered.
The insects drank his tears, which explains their survival in the ocular cavity.
Dr. Hung Chi-ting, head of ophthalmology at the hospital, explained that it was "a phenomenon" unique in the world ". At the beginning of the inspection, he first found the paws of an insect. So he used a microscope to get a better diagnosis.
The woman said that she was visiting the cemetery and that when she was moving the weeds from the family grave, she noticed that the bees had been thrown into her eyes. "I thought it was dirt and I wiped my eyes with water, but it started to hurt a lot at night," he said.
For this reason, he suffered from cellulitis and ocular keratitis, a bacterial infection of the skin and inflammation of the cornea.
