Heavy rains caused flooding in London hospitals and required patients to travel to other health centers

Heavy rains that hit London on Sunday caused flooding that affected, among others, hospitals in “Whipps Cross and Newham, located in the east of the capital, who asked patients to go to other health centers in the city.

Torrential rains cause severe flooding in homes, roads and stations, London firefighters have therefore announced that they have received around 300 calls related to these incidents, reports the channel BBC.

“We are always there if you need us, but to help us while we fix things, if possible go to another nearby hospital”, Newham Hospital administration posted on social media.

For its part, the Whipps Cross hospital has also launched a similar appeal, in which it claims to know “operational problems due to heavy rains”.

In this context, the Environment Agency issued two warnings throughout the day for parts of London. The most severe flood warnings occur at locations in Suffolk, Essez and the Isle of Wight.

In addition, 19 other less serious alerts were issued covering most of London and parts of the surrounding counties.

Torrential rains in the south-east of England flooded the streets of London on Sunday afternoon, where firefighters received hundreds of calls.

The characteristic red cars and buses were stuck and could not move through the districts of the British capital, according to images posted on social media.

In south London, near Queens Town Road station, police closed a street as the road was flooded, a reporter from the AFP.

London firefighters confirmed on Twitter that they had received up to 300 calls for flooding in the city’s southwest.

The British Meteorological Office has set an orange alert level in the capital and other parts of the country until 19:00 (18:00 GMT).

The service also warned of the danger of lightning and flooding due to torrential rains expected until Monday.

In several southern regions, 100 millimeters of rain could fall in a few hours, double the monthly average for a month in July, he added.
