How can the genetically modified drink fight the hangover?

ZBiotics, the drink that prevents hangovers, is available in 15-millimeter bottles. It is now available for sale online and in stores in the United States.

The creators explained to Efe that they "limited themselves" to copying a natural process and directing it specifically to deal with the hangover.

"It is a drink containing a genetically modified probiotic that breaks one of the toxic derivatives of alcohol consumption called ethanal, responsible for inconvenience the day after consumption," said Efe CEO and co-founder of ZBiotics , Zack Abbott.

The drink, ZBiotics, consists of "moving" the metabolic phenomenon from one place of the body to another.

A bacterium, Bacillus subtilis, is used to modify its DNA to produce the same enzyme capable of treating with ethanal (derived from alcohol responsible for acidity and discomfort) .

This same enzyme already exists naturally in the liver. What Zbiotics does is transfer it to the intestines so that the ethanal "breaks" before the acidity that generates headaches and generalized discomfort is generated.

"The foundation of ZBiotics' creation was the idea that we could potentially direct or harness the power of bacteria, tame them to create features that would be useful to us," said the laboratory's general manager.

Its creator added that "like any other food product, it must be evaluated to ensure its safety.We spend two years in the laboratory to ensure its safety and take the highest reference as standard."
