How did the Corruption Network work to allow celebrity children to enter elite universities in the United States?

US justice has discovered a new scandal that has plagued Hollywood celebrities, business leaders and wealthy families across the country. Prosecutors have found that, for the moment, at least 33 parents they paid bribes so that their children could enter elite universities like Yale, Georgetown, Stanford, among others.

In addition, the researchers accused the best college coaches of accepting millions of dollars to help these students in their admissions.

Among the presumed celebrities are actress Lori Loughlin and her husband, fashion designer Mossimo Giannulli; actress Felicity Huffman; and the partner of private equity firm TPG, William E. McGlashan Jr.

The investigation involved 200 agents across the country and left a list of 50 defendants in six states. In regards to operating mode, the authorities explained that parents cheated the system through a screen: A company prepared the entrance exams, by William Singer.

Families paid for it about 25 million dollars, from 2011 to February 2019, to encourage coaches and university administrators to nominate their children as recruited athletes, even though they did not even practice the sport.

In this way, Singer falsified youth profiles in their applications and he described a non-existent sports story. He was even in charge of digital editing of photographs where teenagers introduced themselves as other athletes.

As if that was not enough, this company was also responsible for falsifying the exams. The parents came to pay between 15 thousand and 75 thousand dollars so that the administrators of the entrance tests help their children, give them the answers and even let others pay them.

In the case of actress Huffman and her husband, actor William H. Macy, they paid $ 15,000 for their eldest daughter's income and they rated that they had made it likewise with the youngest. The documents indicate that the young woman he had twice the time to perform the SAT (mandatory in the United States to enter a university) and that the paid supervisor agreed to correct the answers before sending it.

For its part, Loughlin, known for his role in Full House (Desperate Housewives), he would have paid $ 500,000 for his two daughters to be named to the USC rowing team, despite the fact that they have never really participated in this sport.
