When it comes to burgers, the first thing you think of is fast food, a not-so-healthy consumer product and can only rarely be considered exquisite or tailor-made.
But, over time, this dish has evolved and renowned chefs have wanted to give their “touch” to this menu, to the point of making it into something luxurious.
This is the case of The golden man, name with which he was baptized a hamburger the most expensive in the world today: it costs 5000 euros (more than a million Argentinian pesos).
The creator of this dish is Robbert Jan De Veen, chief restaurant owner By Daltons, located in the town of Voorthuizen, in the The Netherlands.
The gourmet delicacy was recently listed in the Guinness Book of Records and includes some of the most luxurious and expensive ingredients on the market.
The meat is 100% Wagyu, the bread dough includes champagne Dom Pérignon and it is accompanied by beluga caviar, Alaskan king crab, Spanish Iberian ham, onion rings breaded with Japanese panko, white truffle, English cheddar, barbecue sauce made with Kopi Luwak coffee and Macallan scotch whiskey.
Until now, everything might seem normal, but what is most striking about this dish is that the burger is covered with golden bread and after an elaboration of nine hours it’s smoked with whiskey. The total weight of this delicacy is 800 grams.
Despite its exorbitant price, getting a table to taste it is really difficult. In reality, it is necessary to book at least two weeks in advance and pay a deposit of 635 euros which, later, will be deducted from the price of the account.
The best thing about this initiative of the Dutch chef is that after seeing the devastation caused by the pandemic around the world, decided to donate the profits from this dish. At present, he has sent 1000 food packages to food banks local.
