Today, during the morning conference of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, the nationwide gasoline prices.

Regular gasoline averaged 20.42 pesos per liter nationwide, while Premium is at 21.98 per liter and diesel at 21.44 per liter. This indicates an increase in gasoline prices.

Discount on premium gasoline on April 10, after the Ministry of Finance and Public Credit (SHCP) withdrew it during the Easter holidays. This is a fiscal stimulus applied to the special tax on production and services (IEPS) with the objective that the price of gasoline offered to the public does not exceed inflation.

From April 10 to 16, Premium gasoline will benefit from a subsidy, according to the SHCP, of 2.68%. This is equivalent to 0.11 pesos on the IEPS, Therefore, fuel consumers will only have to pay 4.20 pesos of said tax when purchasing said type of gasoline.

Regular or Magna gasoline, the one with the highest consumption, also saw an increase in the corresponding fiscal stimulus. It will drop from 32.02% to 33.85%, i.e., 1.73 pesos from the IEPS. So consumers will have to pay 3.38 pesos per liter of fuel tax.

However, the fiscal stimulus attributed to diesel has been reduced. From 7.60%, it rose to 3.02%, with which the final IEPS fee that consumers of said fuel will have to cover will be 5.45 pesos per liter.

Until April 4, according to Surit Berenice Domínguez, head of the Federal Consumer Protection Agency (Profeco), Petrol stations with a higher price for regular gasoline can be found in Mexico City and Jalisco. In the Mexican capital, the most expensive gas station is located on Avenida División del Norte within the office of the mayor of Coyoacán de Petróleos Mexicanos (PEMEX), where the average is 21.99 pesos per liter of gasoline . At the same price, on Avenida Artesanos no. 1052 in Guadalajara, Jalisco, is the Fuels BP gas station.

On another side, the gas stations that offer a better price to their consumers are in Veracruz and Guerrero. The first, with an offer of 18.65 pesos per liter of gasoline, is at Vicente Riva Palacio no. 1110 from Coatzacoalcos, Veracruz and is from PEMEX. From the same company, on the Zihuatanejo-Lázaro Cárdenas highway, km 94, in Guerrero, a liter of fuel is offered at 19.10 Mexican pesos.

On April 5, Profeco reported that Premium gasoline had reached an all-time high when it reached 25.5 pesos per liter at a Pemex establishment located in Culiacán, Sinaloa.

The increase in gasoline prices at the beginning of this month was caused by the change in fiscal stimulus for fuels which had been announced at the end of March in the Official Journal of the Federation.
