How you can renew your driver’s license that expires in 2022

In January 2012, Decree 19 of that year entered into force, which changed the validity of driver’s licenses in Colombia, directly amending Article 22 of Law 769 of 2002, which validated them for life. With this decree, it was determined that driving licenses for private service vehicles will be valid for 10 years, for drivers under the age of 60; five years, for people between 60 and 80 years old, and one year for people over 80 years old.

According to these guidelines, licenses issued before January 2012 should be renewed in 2022, according to the Ministry of Transport.
