“I did not know the neighborhood”: the unprecedented reason why a motorist crossed a pedestrian bridge with his car

This Monday, April 19, around one in the morning, a taxi driver with license plates from Mexico City tried to cross the Periférico and got stuck, he was therefore helped by elements of safety and road safety.

Eight out of 10 road accidents are due to alcohol consumption

According to specialists from the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS), they ensure that half of the accidents on these dates involve the consumption of intoxicating drinks, causing more 40% of motorist deaths.

Every year in Mexico there are more than 24,000 deaths, according to data from the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) and the World Health Organization, placing Mexico seventh in the world for road traffic fatalities.

According to figures from the React for Life association, made up of the Civil Association of Victims of Road Violence, traffic incidents are the leading cause of death in children aged 5-14 and the second among young people aged 15 to 24.

Eight out of 10 people injured in crashes would have consumed alcoholic beverages before driving, causing about 80% of accidents.

Road accidents are the second leading cause of permanent motor disability, meaning that approximately 860,000 Mexicans live with limitations in walking or moving due to a car accident.
