Impressive: the sink of a building collapsed and flooded the parking lot

The pool of the exclusive Parador building, located in the town of Vila Velha, south-east of Brazil, went deep last Thursday, at 10 p.m., and flooded the parking lot. The neighbors had to leave their apartment as a precaution, but none were injured.

The incident was recorded by the security cameras of the place. In a first video, you can see how the whole pool floor is coming off and falls to the floor below. A second sequence shows how a giant wave enters the garage and floods it in a few seconds.

According to the tower keeper, named Carlos, Brazilian media A Gazeta, everyone self-evacuated residents and they evicted the building immediately after the structure collapsed.

He added: “When I got to the window I saw a huge hole, then I noticed the pool had collapsed in the garage on the ground floor, and an unbearable smell of pink gas“.

The neighbor explained that the pool was activated at the time. However, he revealed that had problems in the past year. “The swimming pool was no longer prohibited now; it is heated, the largest and the most frequented. It is 25 meters long. Last year it was closed due to a leak and we were like three months without being able to use it, ”he said.

The construction of the exclusive tower was in charge of Constructora Agro and was inaugurated in 2018. After hearing the news, of the company issued a statement in which they reported that they provide “the necessary assistance” to families residing in the building, as they have not yet been allowed to return.

After the incident, the municipal authorities they opened an investigation. On Friday morning, a civil defense team, accompanied by other experts, arrived in the building to analyze the causes of the collapse and assess the damage it caused.

As noted in a preliminary report, the fall affected the basement and columns construction.

Faced with this, the municipality has maintained in dialogue with the local television that the construction company should provide and execute a reinforcement project so that residents can return to their apartments.
