Ghislaine Maxwell’s lawyer published the first photo of the former partner of financier Jeffrey Epstein since his arrest in July 2020. She faces six charges, including that of recruiting minors. to offer sexual services to their partner.

The photo, which is part of court documents, shows Maxwell with a bruised eye. Maxwell’s attorney, Bobbi Sternheim, included in addition to the image, a letter explaining how difficult the accused’s prison days were.

He assured that he had not noticed the bruise on his eye since his client “It doesn’t have a mirror, you can just see it in the reflection of the nail clipper.”

Sternheim said he also didn’t know how his black eye came out, but he speculated that the bruise may have been caused by Maxwell protecting his eyes during night checks. “It’s no wonder he was accidentally injured trying to keep the light out of his eyes at night,” he suggested to the New York Post.

Officers at the Brooklyn Metropolitan Detention Center, where she is incarcerated, questioned her about the bruise and threatened to put her in solitary confinement if she did not disclose how she was victimized.

Her lawyer noted that Ghislaine Maxwell has become “increasingly reluctant to give information to guards for fear of reprisals, discipline and punitive tasks ”.

Since July, several bail applications have been filed by the legal team, all of which have been rejected by a panel of judges. The main argument is that Maxwell is deprived of sleep thanks to “health checks” every 15 minutes by correctional officers.

Maxwell has pleaded not guilty to new child sex trafficking charges, by appearing in person in a New York courthouse for the first time. The daughter of British press mogul Robert Maxwell, now deceased, denies all charges against her. If he is found guilty, she can be sentenced to life imprisonment.

His trial is scheduled to begin on July 12, although his legal team is asking for more time to prepare..

The alleged crimes took place between 1994 and 2004 and involve four women, two of whom were only 14 when they were sexually abused.

The charges are stronger than previous ones, which spoke of “inciting” and “transporting” minors to other states in the country to commit illegal sex acts.
