At the same time, according to the BCR, maize production from the current harvest could amount to 48.5 million tonnes. That's about 500,000 tons more than the BCR forecast of last month and a 52% increase over the drought-marked 2017/2018 agricultural cycle.

The work of the Rosario Stock Exchange shows that the volume marketed by producers already exceeds the average of the last five campaigns.

"To date, 17.7 million tonnes of 2018/19 cereals have been traded, 54% more than the average of the past five seasons and 43% above the 2017/18 cycle," the report said. report. He added that of this volume, 17.2 million tonnes were purchased for export.

"This shows a takeoff, with better unit productivity values ​​in the first plantations, and excellent behavior of the last plantings is also expected.The improvements in Buenos Aires, La Pampa and Santa Fe stand out," he explained. . The entity expects an average national yield of 85.84 qq / ha, or one quintal per hectare more than it had estimated a month ago.
