India once again set new world record for coronavirus cases | the Chronicle

Indian health authorities reported more than 346,000 new cases of coronavirus, another record for the country and around the world since the start of the pandemic, in a context where the hospital situation has already collapsed.

In a New Delhi hospital, around 20 patients died from lack of oxygen, in the third consecutive day with contagion figures over 300,000.

The Ministry of Health indicated that the number of last day positive cases were 346786, increasing the provisional count since the start of the pandemic at 16,610,481.

Over 2.5 million of these cases are considered active, while the death toll now stands at 189,544, after adding 2,624 deaths on the last day, according to health sources.

In Maharashtra state alone, whose capital is Mumbai, more than 770 deaths were recorded on the last day, the news agency said. Europa Press.

The Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, met with the heads of government of the ten states hardest hit by the pandemic in search of a consensus.

Meanwhile, the government oxygen generators imported from Germany to try to compensate for the lack of this offer which is already becoming extreme.

Several hospitals have publicly asked for government help to cope with the increasing number of patients.

One of them is the Jaipur Golden Hospital in New Delhi, where at least 20 people have died from lack of oxygen, according to the centre’s medical director, DK Baluja.

In chain statements NDTV, the doctor explained that the authorities had allocated them 3.5 tons of supplies which were initially due to arrive in the afternoon but which ended up arriving at midnight. By that time, it was too late for these 20 patients, while another 200 are in critical condition.
