Spanish police officers arrested a 40-year-old man in Manacor, Barcelona, ​​as a perpetrator of a felony for, allegedly, infect 22 people with Covid-19, eight of them directly and 14 indirectly, both at work and at the gym he attended.

The investigation began in late January when officers learned of the existence of a coronavirus outbreak at a well-known Manacor facility where, apparently, a worker had been infected and had concealed his illness.

A few days before the outbreak was revealed, the worker started showing symptoms consistent with the disease, so his colleagues started to worry as they found he was not doing well but did not want to go home. him, fearing he could infect them.

After his work day was over, the inmate went to a medical center for a PCR because he was not improving, return to his gym and his place of work the next day.

His colleagues and the director of the establishment ordered him to return home because he could be infected with Covid-19, ignoring the orders of his bosses. Police said the inmate came with a fever of over 40 degrees.

When all the workers were called in to perform the PCR, five of them tested positive, which in turn infected several of their relatives, among those infected. three babies from 1 year old. In the gymnasium he attended, 3 people were directly infected, who in turn infected several relatives, for a total of 22 infected people, none of whom had to be hospitalized.

As a result of these facts, the worker was arrested as an alleged perpetrator of a crime of injury and on Friday he was placed at the disposal of the Barcelona judicial authority.

Reckless behavior like that of the prisoner, in addition to endangering people’s health, also threatens the economy.
