But times have changed and today they have become "more earthly beings". According to the results of the 2014 annual household survey, it is estimated that In the city of Buenos Aires, there are about 250,000 cats.which represents 8 per 100 people.

However, not everyone has the chance to have a home. There are thousands of abandoned animals on the streets, refugees in unexpected places, wait until someone adopts them and give them affection.

That's why today, in its day, in Popular We have compiled five animal stories that have gone through situations of abandonment, mistreatment and indifference until they finally find a definitive family.

Oslo:

Exactly one year ago, the firefighters of Villa del Parque received a call signaling that in the top of a tree, a cat was crying and could not come down. Despite attempts to save her, in a moment, the animal was scared and fell on the sidewalk. He died instantly. But suddenly, a fireman caught the attention: the belly of the cat was moving. Immediately, he decided to take her to a veterinarian. The professional examined her and realized that she was pregnant. She therefore decided to intervene. He had 5 kittens: two died as a result of the impact and three survived, which they named Berlin, Helsinski and Oslo, as characters of the paper house.

But Berlin could not survive and died days later. "After raising for ten days a bottle, a cat that I had received and raising them as such. Oslito fought himbecause the poor thing happened to him. We watched it about 300 times, but against all odds, that's what happened, "says Alicia, one of her lifeguards, kindergarten.

Arnulfo:

His age is a mystery, but it is presumed that he has spent many years of indifference, hunger and loneliness. He lived in a colony with 40 other cats, in the Palermo district, housed in a building. Do not be sterilized, the fighting with the alpha male of the colony was constantwhich results in scratches, deep wounds, pus and pain.

Six years ago, a group of Palermo kittens rescuers saw him and immediately castrated him. But beyond the operation, Arnulfo slowly began to let himself die. Tired of so many years of fighting, he did not want to eat and struggled to get up. His health was deteriorating.

Soon, they managed to find him a transit home and almost as an injection of vitality, it was the kickoff of his recovery. A few months later, a couple learned of the existence of his case and did not hesitate to adopt it.

Chantal and Chinini:

Both were abandoned by very young girls in the botanical garden. For years they lived on the brink of danger, be exposed to poisoning, attacking wild dogs, storms and falling trees in a colony with 300 other cats. So they spent years and years, in the open air, to avoid any contact with the man.

But in 2016, a group of Hacé Group rescuers cheered on a gato, took them out of the street, took them to the vet and conducted the corresponding examination. Chinini was in good health and after a week spent in a transit house, she was adopted.

But Chantal, a cat of almost 12 years, did not have the same luck. Product of his age and his abandonment, his teeth were damaged and all his teeth had to be removed. In addition, they found a pair of bad tumors, which is why he needed surgery. A few months later, she managed to recover and was adopted by the same couple who had adopted her partner.

Azumi:

On October 3, a member of the Gatitos del Gutierrez group marched in the street and from inside a trash can, he heard a scream. When he opened the trash, he saw a bag containing two other packages inside. In one, he found three dead kittens, while in the other, Azumi was wrapped in a towel. Then he took her in his arms and looked after her. But its 170 gram weight made it difficult to go ahead.

With very little hope of life, was transferred to the transit house of another lifeguard that by coincidence, a few days ago, I had taken a pregnant cat out of the street. From the beginning, he accepted it and the milk and love offered revived it.

Today, Azumi lives with the woman who saved her from the container and with a cat brother with whom he sleeps, plays and runs in the house.

Leon:

His story is full of pain but also hope. On May 1, 2012, he was rescued from the street in critical conditions. Victim of human cruelty in its purest form, his jaw and palate were fractured, he was blind and suffered from various diseases. Their chances of survival were almost nil. There are 40 days left! Stage and every hour that pbaded was perceived as the last. He was practically peeled by a mushroom and the only thing that showed was his bones. Only he kept alive the serum and a blood transfusion to be done urgently as a result of a hemobartonella (a disease that spreads fleas and causes severe anemia). However, his rescuers, who eventually formed the Felices group up to the legs, said that even under these conditions, they drew attention to the affectionate shown.

Leon, when he was found.

"One afternoon, they called to say that Leon (they had named him because of his fighting style) had started eating. The emotion was such that we went to see him immediately. The kitten ate chicken with envy, but did not drink water and hydration was essential."Remembers Victoria, one of the key elements of his rescue, but thanks to the love they gave him every day, the cat started drinking liquid.

Slowly, he recovered and arrived the day of his release. She – one of the founders of Felices hasta las Patas – and her husband looked at each other, knowing that they would adopt León. The adaptation was not easyespecially because his other cats were very cunning and Leon needed attention. But by being pampered, everything flowed naturally.

The years have pbaded (seven, to be exact) and Leon has recovered his beautiful coat and has gained weight. He made new friends and, why not, developed new trickslike going to the table and shouting to get him down.

He lived seven happy years, full of love. But a few days ago, his heart says enough after an operation, has consequences that the ill-treatment he has suffered has left him.

"Leon has taught many lessons about resilience, hope and above all about love, he has taught us a lot and filled us with love, a love that is sometimes as insurmountable as pain. It's hard to say goodbye, but his memory and the moments of life keep him alive in our hearts."It's Matías, his owner, who writes these lines and he's doing it from Spain. He had to go to the old continent to conduct an investigation and could not say goodbye to his pet But he wanted to tell his story, through tears that pbaded on the keyboard, as a tribute to those who had accompanied him for so long.

Leon lived 7 years with a family who gave him a lot of love.

Leon's story may not be the happiest, but his years have been devoted to a family, after overcoming so much abuse, so much suffering. So much pain León is one of the many representatives who spend every day in situations of indifference and cruelty. The difference is that for 7 years he knew what it is that love. But there are many, many who are waiting to be adopted. They expect a family that wants them, that separates them from the street and mistreatment. Far from indifference and near the heat of a home. A house that, for many, is an inaccessible thing.
