Two Iranians who were arrested after entering the country last 12 with fake Israeli pbadports. The governments of Argentina and Israel regard them as terror suspects and press for them to be deported.
Federal Judge Luis Rodríguez today opened an investigation into the Iranian couple, with the help of an official defender and the participation of prosecutor Jorge Di Lello. They face a formal accusation of ideological falsification of a public document, as they entered the country with stolen original documents on which they placed their photographs.
The two Iranians stayed in federal police offices in Figueroa Alcorta and Cavia. At dawn, they were transferred to court in the midst of an impressive security operation, which included a convoy of motorized police officers, a transport truck for detainees and two tanks with special troops, long arms and patrol cars. The convoy traveled about 20 blocks from Palermo to the Retiro Courts, where the two detainees were taken to the underground cells of the alcaidía.
The first to get off the Federal Police truck was Mashoreh Sabzali, 30, who appeared surrounded by police and handcuffed. Shortly after, Saijad Samiel Naseran, 27, arrived with a bulletproof vest and a helmet. The two Iranians entered the judicial building through a lateral access that leads directly to the building hall.
There, they remained imprisoned all morning. As soon as the security operation was released, a group of protesters from the Front Patria Grande, led by Juan Grabois, entered the parking lot with a pig and deployed a flag to denounce the "Chiquero de Comodoro Pyg", protesting against what they called. "political operations" that take place in court.
The two Iranians were able to declare themselves in the afternoon because they had to wait for the arrival of a translator, neither of the two foreigners speaking Spanish. Before the interview, they met with their official defender. Both said in English.
At the beginning of the afternoon, they entered the courthouse, located on the fourth floor of the judicial building. First, Saijad Samiel Naseran said he fled Iran because he had a relationship with a married woman. And he pointed out that this situation put the adulterous woman in danger of stoning if she was discovered. He also indicated that he feared for his life and freedom if this situation was to be revealed.
He pointed out that he had left Iran for Turkey and from there to Greece. He justified the possession of several different identity pbadports in which he "jumped from country to country", where he had bought these stolen documents with similar photos or real documents on which he had inserted a photo.
He said that during his flight, he arrived in Spain, where he met Mashoreh Sabzali, who was also fleeing his country. He said that they were trying to become refugees and that is why they chose to come to Argentina to try to normalize their situation.
Both entered the country on the 12th of the current month with pbadports stolen in Israel. The fake identities that they used were Rivka Toledano and Netanel Toledano.
Migration checks pbaded through Ezeiza, even though the documents were registered as stolen and the Argentine authorities were aware of this situation. In fact, there was an alert from Interpol about these altered documents.
However, the couple pbaded the checks. Due to this situation, the Ministry of Justice searched the homes of those responsible for the migration, suspected of being linked to the Iranians. After the procedure, however, any previous relationship was excluded.
The Iranians entered the 12 and stayed in three different hotels until they were in the Once neighborhood, where they were arrested. Instead, they found the pbadports they traveled with, a camera with photos and cell phones that they had at the time of their arrest. Federal Judge Luis Rodríguez ordered the secret of the case and investigated the appeals made by one and the other to a law firm in Buenos Aires before the start. to be arrested
