Hundreds of minors who were kidnapped last week from a boarding school in Nigeria were released on Thursday, local authorities reported to the BBC.
The Islamist group Boko Haram claimed responsibility for this massive kidnapping.
A spokesperson for the governor of Katsina state, where the children were abducted, noted that 344 minors have been released, they are in good health and they will be reunited with their loved ones in a few hours.
The official assured that none of the kidnapped was dead.
Aminu Bello Masari, governor of Katsina, was quoted by Reuters as saying he recovered “most of the children, not all”, while a security source told AFP some of the children are staying with their captors.
Over the past decade, Boko Haram has gained worldwide recognition for its actions against schoolchildren, including the abduction of nearly 300 girls in Chibok in 2014.
Authorities did not disclose further details of the case, but information about the juvenile’s release was confirmed to the BBC by another state government official.
