The reason? The recent break-up of the dollar in the domestic market, which has had the effect of lowering the price of the liter relative to the rest of the countries.

So, for the first time in many years, Argentina is located far from the podium of the most expensive markets in the region.

A year ago, the ranking was very different: the country was just below Uruguay in terms of the most expensive fuels, with a value for super naphtha in the range of 1.70 dollar, followed by Chile (1,32), Brazil (1,23 USD) and Mexico (1,18 USD).

Now, despite the adjustment with which the oil companies have progressed, the liter of super naphtha was reduced locally, measured in hard currency: currently, it is around $ 0.93, which, according to Global Petrol Price, gives Argentina a "technical" link with the Republic of El Salvador.

The following countries rank above the following countries: Argentina (1.70 USD), Chile (1.20 USD), Brazil (1.11 USD), Paraguay (1.18 USD) and Peru (US $). $ s1,07), to name just a few.

Even Mexico, whose hydrocarbon production is important, has a value higher than the rating (1 USD) above the Argentine coast.

Costa Rica (0.96 USD), Nicaragua (1.04 USD) and Honduras (1.03 USD) also sell the most demanded naphtha at a higher price than in this part of the world.

Asked about the oscillation that is now making the super-Argentine one of the least expensive species in Latin America, Gabriel Bornoroni, owner of FECAC, told iProfesional that this situation in the stations- national service is momentary, given that mid-year forecasts indicate that the fuel value will be well above the current level.

At the same time, the employer estimated a decline in the dollar in the run-up to the election, which would lead to an increase in the regional ranking due to the rising cost of gasoline in pesos.

Bornoroni was planning further increases for June, which would only send Argentina back to the market with the most expensive gasoline.

"Argentina has become unpredictable because everything depends on what is happening with the dollar," he told iProfesional. In addition, Castellano stressed the need to observe the purchasing power of consumers before discussing any further increases.

Recent increase

Last Sunday, the YPF State increased the price of gasoline by 4.55% and that of diesel by 4.89%, due to the rise in the tax on liquid fuels, the rate of changes and price changes of Brent.

As we already know, for both gasoline and diesel, the reference prices of the federal capital are not necessarily high compared to the rest of Argentina.
