"It was completely devastating": a coughed woman, went to the hospital, had her legs and an arm amputee

Jayne Carpenter, a 51-year-old nurse residing in the Welsh city of Merthyr Tydfil, was suffering from a constant cough and a feeling of weakness. So she went to the hospital.

According to Metro, the doctor who treated the woman thought that it was pneumonia, but the patient quickly fell into a coma. After that, the exams showed that he was suffering from sepsis.

The doctors announced the illness to their partner, indicating that she could die if they did not perform a quadruple amputation: legs and arms. Finally, it was only one of the upper limbs.

That happened in April 2016, telling Carpenter that he "had a very strong cough and that he was coughing a dark phlegm." He was getting worse and I thought he "It was a virus."

The doctors struggled for weeks to keep the woman alive and, despite this success, Jayne suffered a severe depression after what had happened.

In this sense, she regretted not having lost her independence and her work. She also told her husband that she could leave her quietly whenever he wanted.

"It's like a grieving process, I was grieved for the life I once had and the ability to do a lot of the little things I take for granted, like knowing how to swim. Carpenter is currently campaigning at GoFundMe to collect 265,000 pounds sterling, more than 234 million Chilean pesos, for surgery and a pair of latest-generation prosthetics on each of his legs.
