HK 2830 took off from Vanguardia Airport, apparently after maintenance work and reconnaissance activity, around 7 a.m. on July 8 with all three crew members.
But barely 5 minutes after its departure, contact with the aircraft was lost and the warning of a possible accident was subsequently issued. The emergency services began the search, but it was until the next day that there was information about the accident.
According to the authorities, It was a group of peasants from this area of the municipality of Restrepo, in the department of Meta, who noticed the accident and gave the information to the mayor of the municipality. and relief agencies.
When the rescuers received the information, they began to enter the area on foot, but the weather conditions, as reported by Civil Aviation, forced the advance to be suspended to await a favorable situation.
“Civil aviation search and rescue personnel and rescue agencies are continuing work today to try to locate the aircraft and its occupants, with the support of an army helicopter. Colombian air. However, the weather conditions in the region limited and made this work difficult, ”they reported.
Upon arriving at the scene, authorities identified that there were no survivors. According to Colonel Jorge Díaz of Civil Defense, the rescue work that the family has asked to speed up in the last few hours has also started.
“The Colombian Air Force’s number two air combat group, in collaboration with the civil defense, coordinates the request through the departmental risk council for the support of a UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter, in order to transfer the bodies from the impact zone to the town of Villavicencio to carry out the lifting of the bodies and hand them over to their loved ones for their Christian burial, ”said the colonel.
