It was not possible to lift the bodies on the crashed plane in the Meta

On July 8, the Douglas DC3 aircraft registered as HK 2830 crashed in a wooded area in the town of Restrepo, in the department of Meta. LThe plane, with its three dead occupants, is in a difficult-to-reach area and family members have asked to speed up the rescue of the bodies.

All three crew members, identified as the pilot, were killed in the crash. Juan Carlos Cortés; co-pilot Jhon Acero and trainer Carlos Eduardo Olaya, who according to the rescue authorities and the peasants who found the plane, were burned after the accident.

Finding the plane took over 36 hours as it crashed in a mountainous and forested area of ​​the Guatiquía Canyon, in Meta. It was a group of peasants who came to the region on foot, after work was suspended due to weather conditions. It would be the same situation that made it difficult to remove the bodies of the victims to hand them over to their families.

Angélica Acero, the daughter of the deceased pilot, told Blu Radio station that the families of the victims feel abandoned because they do not feel the authorities’ will to lead the rescue efforts.

He said, On the third day after the accident, they did not receive information from the authorities to put forward a rescue plan that will allow them, finally, to receive the bodies of their loved ones and to mourn their tragedy.

The DC3 aircraft corresponds to an aircraft that arrived in the country before World War II, and operated in rural areas with communication and flight systems without current aeronautical technology.

HK 2830 took off from Vanguardia Airport, apparently after maintenance work and reconnaissance activity, around 7 a.m. on July 8 with all three crew members.

But barely 5 minutes after its departure, contact with the aircraft was lost and the warning of a possible accident was subsequently issued. The emergency services began the search, but it was until the next day that there was information about the accident.

According to the authorities, It was a group of peasants from this area of ​​the municipality of Restrepo, in the department of Meta, who noticed the accident and gave the information to the mayor of the municipality. and relief agencies.

When the rescuers received the information, they began to enter the area on foot, but the weather conditions, as reported by Civil Aviation, forced the advance to be suspended to await a favorable situation.

“Civil aviation search and rescue personnel and rescue agencies are continuing work today to try to locate the aircraft and its occupants, with the support of an army helicopter. Colombian air. However, the weather conditions in the region limited and made this work difficult, ”they reported.

Upon arriving at the scene, authorities identified that there were no survivors. According to Colonel Jorge Díaz of Civil Defense, the rescue work that the family has asked to speed up in the last few hours has also started.

“The Colombian Air Force’s number two air combat group, in collaboration with the civil defense, coordinates the request through the departmental risk council for the support of a UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter, in order to transfer the bodies from the impact zone to the town of Villavicencio to carry out the lifting of the bodies and hand them over to their loved ones for their Christian burial, ”said the colonel.
