Lilly Téllez, Senator of the National Action Party (PAN), shared his dissatisfaction on social media with Andrés Manuel López Obrador, President of Mexico.

“This is the clearest example of President AMLO’s contempt for constitutional order: denouncing federal judges for having respected their powers simply because their resolutions do not correspond to their political interests. It is abominable authoritarianism, ”he wrote on his Twitter profile.

The senator referred to the president’s statements during the morning conference on Monday, March 15 in where the president reported sending a letter to the president of the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation (SCJN), Arturo Zaldívar, asking him to determine whether Judge Pablo Gómez Fierro has the power to grant the temporary suspension of the reform of the law on the electricity industry, after its entry into force.

He also asked the Minister, if necessary, start research on the subject.

“Want to report on a letter I address to Minister Arturo Zaldívar Lelo de la Rea, President of the Supreme Court of Justice, and at the same time he is the president of the judicial power of the judicial power; It is a letter in connection with the action of a judge who granted a suspension quickly, it has been accomplished as few times as justice must be expedited, there are those who ask for the suspension, the protection of the justice and they take time to be heard, but here I went quickly ”, informed the president.

For his part, Arturo Zaldívar, Minister-President of (SCJN), responded to the President’s letter.

“As you know, it is a prerequisite for democracy and the rule of law that judges can act within a framework of autonomy and independence,” replied Zaldívar in his own letter, made public by the Federal Judicial Council (CJF), where he is also chairman of the plenary.

Zaldívar added that López Obrador’s letter and his complaint will be forwarded to the corresponding area of ​​the CJF, which coordinates the work of all federal judges in the country.

In the event that it is appropriate, an investigation will be opened with “full respect for the autonomy and independence of the judiciary, as well as the guarantees that protect it», Said the judge.

Currently, the reform of the electricity sector is suspended, while the federal judge and the parties release the request for protection.

The next step to know will be whether the judicial authority maintains the permanent suspension until the amparo case is resolved.

The provisional suspension was granted by Judge Gómez Fierro, after several companies affected by the reform filed for protection.
