is apparently mining old movie game to prepare his team for the 2018 season.

Jared Cook told reporters Monday that Gruden released the video of a game that seemed to take place in the 1970s, according to Las Vegas Revue-Journal by Michael Gehlken:

Raiders TE Jared Cook was born in 1987. Jon Gruden shows a football movie from Team that is older, he said. "He released a film like in 1976 when you do not even think of having a movie … Grainy film where you can barely see the players." Added some of the plays, original shot.

Cook's revelation is not so surprising. At the NFL Scouting Combine in February, Gruden criticized the league's gradual shift towards badytics and said he "was trying to bring the game back to 1998," according to Vic Tafur:

Evolution is often necessary for leading coaches to support any success over a period of time, and it would seem it is even more important for Gruden, whose last season on the touchline was in 2008.

The fact that Gruden is trying to thwart modern trends might not be auspicious as he approaches his first regular season in Oakland. [ad_2]
